Cookie Policy
House of Zij uses a small number of cookies. On this page we explain which cookies we use, for what purpose, and how to manage your preferences.
1. What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file saved to your browser when you visit a website. Cookies are used for purposes such as making the site work properly, remembering your preferences, and measuring site usage anonymously.
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the House of Zij site. For general information on the processing of your personal data, you can review the Privacy Notice (KVKK).
2. The Cookie Types We Use
Strictly necessary cookies: required for the core functions of the site. Functions such as session management, keeping a membership login active, language and display preferences, and security are provided by these cookies. They are essential for the site to work, and when disabled the site cannot offer some of its features. Under the legislation, no separate consent is sought for strictly necessary cookies.
Functional cookies: make your experience easier by remembering your preferences and the choices you have made before.
Analytics cookies: collect statistics anonymously, such as how often a page is visited and how long users spend on the site on average (Google Analytics). This data does not identify an individual; it is used only to improve the service. Analytics cookies load only if you allow them via the cookie consent banner shown on your first visit; if you choose "Only necessary" they are never run.
House of Zij does not use marketing cookies for advertising networks, behavioural targeting or user tracking.
3. Third Party Cookies
For the site's infrastructure and security services, some third party cookies may come into play for a short period.
Security and bot protection: in areas such as the contact form, a security check is used to block unwanted and automated submissions. Temporary security cookies may be created during this check.
Payment security: at the payment steps, the security cookies of the authorised payment institutions come into play for the duration of the transaction. These cookies are managed by the payment institution.
These cookies carry no advertising or tracking purpose; they are solely for the secure delivery of the service.
4. Data Processed Through Cookies and Retention Period
Depending on their type, cookies are either deleted when your browser session ends (session cookies) or stay in your browser for a set period (persistent cookies).
Strictly necessary and functional cookies are generally short lived and are deleted when they have done their job or when you clear your browser data. The data collected through analytics cookies is kept in anonymous form and for a limited period.
5. Browser Local Storage
Some interactive modules (features such as the Card of the Day, card history or test results) use the browser's local storage area (localStorage).
This data in local storage stays only in your own browser; it is not sent to our servers automatically. When you clear your browser data, this data is also deleted.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
All modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and others) offer settings to view, delete and block cookies. From your browser's settings section you can turn cookies off in part or entirely.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, the site may not be able to offer some of its core features (such as membership login and remembering your preferences).
7. Cookies That Require Consent
Under the legislation, cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work do not require consent. Explicit consent must be obtained for cookies that are not strictly necessary.
House of Zij uses strictly necessary and security cookies together with anonymous analytics cookies (Google Analytics). For analytics cookies a consent banner is shown on your first visit; analytics cookies run only if you choose "Accept all", and if you choose "Only necessary" just the strictly necessary cookies run. You can reset your choice by clearing your browser data and choose again.
8. Updates to This Policy
This cookie policy may be updated in line with changes in legislation or developments on the site. The current text is always published on this page.
For questions and requests about cookies you can reach us through the Contact page.
